The StoryDome has a new home on Whidbey Island
Wonderful news! Beginning in June 2019, THE STORYDOME has a new home at the South Whidbey Community Center (SWCC). Our inflatable dome is now an immersive learning asset for the Whidbey Island community. We will be doing educational programs for K-12 classes, as well as live interactive shows for the entire community. The StoryDome Project began as a Seattle Center exhibit for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Seattle World’s Fair. Our signature dome show EARTH PORTAL: A Guided Tour of the Universe ran for an entire year beginning in April 2012. EARTH PORTAL was seen by thousands of people of all ages, and, needless to say, it was a huge hit! Since then the StoryDome has traveled up and down the west coast providing awe-inspiring educational programs at schools, conferences, festivals, and businesses.
The StoryDome is an immersive dome environment that holds up to 25 people. It is a unique vehicle for telling stories that evoke experiences of awe and wonder. Using state-of-the art digital media it is now possible to create comprehensive, awe-inspiring visual stories on all scales – from the vastness of the cosmos to the tiniest quantum flux, and everything in between! Our goal is to create immersive, visual stories that shift our perspective toward a more ecological worldview. The StoryDome allows us to explore the beauty and complexity of Nature’s patterns and the interdependence of all life. It fosters a sense of belonging to the Universe and the interdependence this implies – to bring forth attitudes, values, and behaviors that support and protect all life on Earth.
SWCC is located in the old Langley Middle School at 723 Camano Avenue. Our StoryDome programs are held in the Multipurpose Room. StoryDome at the Earth Portal / Next 50 Pavilion at the Seattle Center
We believe that there is nothing more powerful than a story whose time has come. The StoryDome is our unique vehicle for telling new stories that evoke experiences of wonder and reverence. Using state-of-the art digital media it is now possible to create comprehensive, awe-inspiring visual stories of all scales – from the vastness of the cosmos to the tiniest quantum flux, and everything in between!Our goal is to create immersive, visual stories that shift consciousness toward a more ecological worldview. The StoryDome allows us to explore the beauty and complexity of Nature’s patterns and the interdependence of all life. We seek to catalyze the development of this “ecological self” – the sense of belonging to the Universe and the interdependence this implies – to bring forth attitudes, values, and behaviors that support and protect all life on Earth. We look forward to networking and collaborating with like-minded people and groups throughout the world to manifest this positive vision, based on stories that can increase peace, love, compassion, and joy for all who share this planet we call home.
